Basil “Beau” Atkinson

A Junior at Texas Christian University (TCU) majoring in biology and minoring in Spanish, Beau plans to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps, 2011 Candy Hall of Fame inductee Dr. Basil E. Atkinson, with plans to attend medical school following his 2021 graduation.

In addition to his studies at TCU, Beau is active on campus through the university’s cheer team, auto club, table tennis team and AED, a national health preprofessional society.

He graduated from Lufkin High School, in Lufkin, TX, in 2017. During his high school years, Beau played football, ran track and was a member of the All-Star Cheer team and Interact Club.

When he isn’t studying biology and Spanish, he enjoys working out and cars. He also volunteers twice a week at the James L. West Alzheimer’s Center, helping keep residents physically and mentally active.

Beau says: “I absolutely love learning about science and the world around me and then applying those principles to save someone’s life.”
