William R. Marvin
Class of 1983
Born on the Fourth of July, 1926, in Brooklyn, NY, Bill graduated from Brooklyn Preparatory School and went on to earn his B.S. degree from Fordham College.
Bill’s 41-year career in the candy business started in 1950 when he joined W.F. Schrafft & Sons Corp. With 23 years of service to the company, Bill rose to the rank of regional sales manager and was honored three times as Salesman of the Year, in 1965, 1967 and again in 1971.
In 1973, he joined LBM Sales, Inc. where he spent the balance of his career as vice-president, sales until his retirement in 1991. Bill’s life-long dedication to and support of the industry, including his service as President of the Empire State Candy Club, 1981-1982, was honored with his induction into the Candy Hall of Fame in 1983.
Bill passed away September 27, 2007.
