Whitney W. Hill

Class of 1993

Whit retired from M&M/Mars after 29 years with the company and at the time of his induction was president of Whitney Hill & Assoc. of Marietta, Georgia. A 1955 graduate of Indiana University, he started his 37-year career in the food and confection business as a district manager with the Stokely Van Kamp Co. Two years later, he joined the B. Hunter Food Brokerage Co. in Louisville as retail sales manager.

Whit was employed by M&M/Mars from 1963 until 1992, beginning as a unit sales manager and ultimately becoming trade relations director.

Over the years, Whit won many industry awards. Among them were the 1986 Candy Man of the Year award from the Southern Candy & Tobacco Association, a 1988 Dean award from the National Candy Wholesalers Association and a 1992 Distinguished Service Award from the National Confectioners Association. Whit also served as chairman of the NCA’s 25 by 95 Committee, a committee formed to promote candy sales.

Whit and his wife Sally raised six children.
