Vernon L. Godwin

Class of 1996

Vern was born in Dunn, NC, on June 28, 1922. A graduate of Plain View High School and the University of Baltimore, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II and Korea. He married Delores in 1961 and raised one son, Philip.

He began his career in the candy industry after his Korean tour of duty. Before forming his own brokerage, Godwin Associates, Vern started sold for Curtiss Candy Co. working out of one of the company’s easily recognized red- and white-striped trucks. He later joined Chunky Corp. and Bonomo Candy Co. serving in sales and management positions.
