Stu Jay Scherr

Class of 1996

A native of Brooklyn, NY, Stu was born April 4, 1938. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School, and served in the U.S. Navy. Stu married Nancy in August of1987 and they raised one daughter, who joined Stu’s two sons, David and Darryl, from a previous marriage.

Stu had worked in the industry for 28 years at the time of his induction, beginning as a division sales manager for Philip Morris between 1960 and 1968. He worked for M&M/Mars, Inc. as an account manager from 1968 to 1970 and joined Jack Candies Ltd. as vice-president of sales in 1970. In 1975 he founded brokerage L&S Sales Co. in Moraga, CA.

He was recognized as an American Wholesaler Marketers Association Candy Ambassador and also served on several broker advisory committees.
