Robert C. Sullivan

Class of 1980

Robert was born in December, 1915 in Stonington, CT. A graduate of Braintree, MA, High School, Northeastern and Washington & Lee Colleges, Robert committed 41 years of his life to promoting the sale and enjoyment of candy.

Beginning his career as a salesman for Lou Specter in 1947, he soon moved on to the F. B. Washburn Co. In 1950 he became a territory manager for the Henry Heide Co. a position he was to hold until 1970 when he became a founding partner in Ake-Sullivan Inc. Confectionery Brokers.

Robert’s contributions and commitment to the industry were honored many times throughout his career. Among his contributions to the industry was a term as President of the Central Pennsylvania Candy Club. He was also named a Candy Ambassador by NCWA and was inducted into the Candy Hall of Fame in 1980.

Robert passed away August 21, 2009.
