Ralph B. Davey

Class of 1995

Ralph was born July 3, 1922 in Ogden, UT. He attended Ogden High School and Weber State College, and later was appointed a Sergeant in the U.S. military.

He began his 46-year candy industry career with Pillsbury Mills in 1942. He then went to work for Utah Cigar Co. in 1948 and joined Harry Youngman Brokerage in 1950.

In 1950, along with his wife Isabel, whom he married in 1949, he founded Ralph Davey Brokerage, Inc.

During his years in the candy industry, Ralph was honored with a Montana Candy Tobacco Life Membership award and in 1976 he received the National Candy Wholesalers Association Candy Ambassador award. Ralph was also responsible for helping establish the Intermountain Candy Club and was elected its first president.

Ralph was the first candy broker in Utah and West of the Mississippi to be inducted into the Candy Hall of Fame.

Ralph passed away on April 16, 2000, after a valiant battle with cancer.
