Joseph Marotta

Class of 1994

Joe was born June 8, 1942, in Syracuse, NY, and in 1964 received a bachelor’s degree in radio and television broadcasting communications from Syracuse University. That same year he married Barbara and began his career as a salesman at the Bratton-Moeller Co. a confectionery business.

Two years later, he joined The Topps Co. Inc. as a district manager, and from 1974 to 1981 served as a regional manager for Cornnuts, Inc.

Joe attributes part of his professional success to the advice he has received throughout the years from fellow members of the industry. He says: I’ve had a couple of good mentors through the years, including Larry Martino, Topp’s Harold Fried and fellow 1988 Candy Hall of Famer, Norman Sceurman.

At the time of his induction, Joe was a partner in the Murphy-Young Candy Brokerage Co. He later became a partner at Legacy Brand Sales and Marketing and the owner of D. Good and Associates.

Joe and Barbara have three children and six grandchildren. In his spare time, he serves as an announcer at several speedways near his home in Syracuse and hosts Around the Tracks, a local FM radio show aired on WSCP. In his spare time he enjoys collecting cars.
