Jorg Schindler

Class of 1998

Born June 11, 1929, in Karlsruhe, Germany, Jorg attended Helmholtz School and Higher Commercial Business School. His continuing education gained him wide experience in the sugar, confectionery and glucose industries, which proved invaluable when his family later acquired Ragolds GmbH & Co. in his hometown of Karlsruhe.

He joined the family business in 1952 and at the time of his induction was Ragolds’ president and chairman of the Board and president of its U.S. subsidiary, Ragold Inc.

A Board member of the Federal Association of the German Confectionery Industry, Jorg received numerous national and international awards for his business, art and community support, including a Federal Cross of Merit with Ribbon from the Federal Republic of Germany.

His two sons, Rainer and Oliver, joined him in the candy business in both Germany and the United States.

Jorg passed away March 6, 2017.
