Fred Aten

Class of 1993

Fred Aten was the candy buyer for the Wetterau Co. Pittsburgh Division, Pittsburgh, at the time of his induction. He was employed by that company for most of his adult life and was in his thirty-second year with the firm when he became a member of the Candy Hall of Fame.

The first seventeen years of Fred’s career was with Fox Grocery, which later became Fox Grocery – Wetterau. Starting as a billing clerk, he advanced to inventory control manager.

The fifteen years prior to his induction were spent in the candy and grocery divisions where he began as production manager for Daisy Maid (a private label rebagging candy program), later assuming the buying responsibility for bulk candy. Fred became the national brand candy buyer and helped design the private label program for other Wetterau divisions.

Fred and his wife Linda raised two children.
