Franklin S. Chase
Class of 1983
Franklin was born in 1923 in Glengloen, PA. A 1948 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School with a B.S. in economics, he began his sales career with the R. T. French Co.
Following service in a variety of sales positions with such companies as Sears Roebuck & Co. and publisher Prentice-Hall, in 1972, he formed the Chase-Goldenberg Assoc. brokerage in partnership with fellow Hall of Fame member Edgar Goldenberg (2000). In 1976, Franklin purchased Edgar’s interest in the company, becoming chairman of the firm, the position he held at the time of his induction.
Honored by the industry many times during his 43-year candy career, Franklin has been named a Candy Ambassador by the NCWA, is a recipient of the Lou Spector Award and a two-time winner of the Philadelphia Confectionery Sales Club’s Achievement award. His commitment to furthering the goals of the industry is noted by his past service as president of the Confectionery Brokers Assoc. the Philadelphia Confectionery Sales Club and the Conshohocken, PA, Chamber of Commerce.
Franklin passed away in 2004.
