Frank (Alan) D’Orlando

Class of 2002

Born January 4, 1941, in Winchester, MA, Alan graduated from The Choate High School and went on to earn a business degree from Babson College, in Wellesley Hills, MA. He is married to Diane and they have five children.

Alan served as an Airman 3rd Class in the Air National Guard, in the 267 Communications Squadron 253 Group in Wellesley Hills, MA, before starting his candy career.

A 40-year veteran of the candy brokerage business, Alan joined his father’s company, Frank D’Orlando & Co. in 1962 as a salesman covering Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. In 1970, he began handling mass and key accounts before becoming president in 1976, the position he held at the time of his induction.

Alan credits his father as the biggest influence on his career because of his honesty, integrity and concern for others, while he says his wife Diane is the reason for his success. He offers these words of advice: “Consider all the facts before making decisions and whatever you do, do it the best you can.”
