Edward Katovsky
Class of 1993
Ed was president of Kaye and Silver Brokerage Co. of Beachwood, OH, at the time of his induction.
Ed was born in 1926, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and attended Miami (Ohio) University. He was in the candy business practically all of his life. At the age of six, he and his brother, Irv, when not selling candy at a ballpark near their home, were packing orders at the family’s tobacco and candy distributing warehouse, the H. Katovsky Co. of Cleveland.
Until 1956, he worked with his father and brother at the company, but they then decided they preferred the confectionery brokerage business to the distributing business and sought their first line. They were contacted by the Chunky Corp. which appointed them as its brokerage for Northern Ohio.
Ed was honored by the State of Israel in 1988, receiving a coveted Ambassador Award. He and his wife, Lois, raised three sons.
Ed passed away in January 2004.
