Edward J. Heyman
Class of 1986
Ed Heyman was born in June, 1925, in Providence, RI. A graduate of Providence’s La Salle Academy and the University of Rhode Island, where he earned his bachelor of science degree, Ed committed the whole of his 52-yearsales career to the advancement of the confectionery industry.
Ed’s career took off in 1946 when he became a salesman for Heyman Bros. a family-owned business. Though the company name changed over the years, Ed’s commitment was unwavering, rising to the presidency of Heyman – O’Gara in 1958. At the time of his induction in 1986, Ed was president of E. Heyman Assoc. a position he still held at the close of the century.
Throughout his long career, Ed has been honored many times by the industry to which he dedicated his life’s work. Named a Candy Ambassador in 1977, he has also served as president and secretary/treasurer of the Boston Confectionery Salesman’s Club. In 1998, the AWMA honored his long standing in the industry with his election to the AWMA 50 Year Club.
