Charles was born September 28, 1924, in Medford, MA. He attended Somerville High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in business law from Burdett College in Boston. In 1955, Charles married Madeline in Medford, MA. The couple raised three children.

Charles was on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946 and again from 1950 to 1952, attaining the rank of chief petty officer. He was stationed in the Pacific during World War II and served in Europe and the Atlantic during the Korean War.

Upon his release from the Navy in 1952, Charles joined Beechnut Packing Co. as a salesman. In 1956 he became a regional manager for Williamson Candy Co. and in 1968 entered the brokerage business when he co-founded Stockdale & Reagan, Inc. the company he operated at the time of his induction.

Over the years, Charles has been honored with the Goetze’s Candy Co. Chairman’s Award and the company’s annual President’s Awards. He has been named Broker Of The Year for both American Home Products and Ce De Candy, Inc.

Charles says his time in the service during WWII had the biggest influence on his career. “My brother was killed after crossing the Rhine River in Germany in 1945. I was fortunate enough to survive my Navy service and was determined to become successful because of him and my family.”,
