Charles H. Metz
Class of 1979
Born in Brooklyn, NY on October 2nd 1921. Charlie attended and graduated from James Madison High School. In 1942 he enlisted in the Navy, serving with the First Marine Division until being discharged in 1945.
A life long resident of New York, Charlie and his wife Grace raised two children, Lynn and Chick.
Charlie followed in the foot steps of his father Herman by entering into the candy business. He joined Jaret and Diamond after his discharge from the Navy. He dedicated 43 to the candy industry. Charlie was an active member of the NY Candy Club serving as president and also a member on the Board of Governors. He also served on the board of directors for the NCSAA. Throughout his career Charlie was also honored for his contributions by being named a Candy Ambassador by the National Candy Wholesaler Association in 1968. In 1979 Charlie was inducted into the Candy Hall of Fame.
