Anthony Paul Cognetti

Class of 1996

Born December 14, 1949, in Scranton, PA, Tony attended Central High School and earned his BA from Pennsylvania State University in 1971. Tony and his wife Sheri raised nine children.

Tony had 25 years in the industry at the time of his induction, including 23 at his uncle’s firm, D.C. Sales Co. where he started as an account executive. He left the industry briefly in the mid-70s, returning as a partner of the D.C. Sales Co. in 1977. Tony became president of the company in 1982, and in 1994 merged the company’s operations into M.W. Houck, Inc. where he became vice-president of the confectionery division.

He served the industry as president of the New York Candy Club and was named a National Candy Wholesalers Association Candy Ambassador in 1988. He received the New York Candy Club’s Presidential Award in 1990.
