Robert C. Camelier
Class of 2002
Born in Philadelphia on December 9, 1946, Bob attended St. Joseph’s University and Columbia University and earned a bachelor’s degree in business. In 1969 he married Mary in St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Philadelphia.
Bob began his career in the candy industry in 1971 with Whitman’s Chocolates, where he worked until 1988, holding various sales positions before becoming vice-president of sales. In 1988 he joined Bonneau Co. as executive vice-president and in 1992 became vice-president of sales for Frankford Candy & Chocolate Co. He left Frankford in 1996 and founded the brokerage SCS Sales Co. where he was co-owner at the time of his induction.
With more than 30 years in the industry, he credits his success to his mentors and co-workers. “I was trained and brought along in this industry by only the best. As my career advanced, I was extremely fortunate to have industrious and loyal employees who made my job easier. With that combination how could I not succeed?”
Bob passes this advice on to others in the industry: “Cherish your customers. You never quite realize how important they are until they’re gone. No matter how great your product is, you must have someone to buy it.”
Bob is a past board member of the International Mass Retail Association, National Association of Chain Drug Stores current advisory board member for the National Confectioner’s Association.
Bob passed away November 4, 2007.
