Harold W. Young

Class of 1974

Harold was born in 1901 in Lynn, MA. A graduate of Lynn Classical High School and Boston University, he began his 51-year candy career in 1923 when he became a salesperson for Sweets Company of America.

He began his career as a broker in 1938, and in 1963 he established Harold W. Young, Inc. where he served as partner and president until his death in 1975. Harold was honored for his contributions to the confectionery industry many times throughout his life, including being named a Candy Ambassador by the National Candy Wholesalers Association and serving as president of the Boston Confectionery Salesmen’s Club. Harold was inducted into the Candy Hall of Fame in 1974.
