Gerard F. Daly
Class of 1982
Born in September, 1925, in Boston, MA, Gerry was a graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School and the Boston College School of Business Administration where he earned a B.S. in business administration.
His candy career began in 1948 when he joined Stop & Shop Supermarkets, Inc. where he advanced through a number of increasingly responsible positions including store manager, grocery and candy buyer and corporate candy buyer. In 1992 he left the retail side of the industry to join Brierley & King Brokerage Corp. as Vice-President of Grocery.
Among the honors he received throughout his long career, Gerry was named Candy Man of the Year in 1981 by the Boston Confectionery Salesmen’s Club. In honor of his commitment to the confectionery industry, he was inducted into the Candy Hall of Fame in 1982.
Gerry made the most of his 25-year retirement indulging his passions for golf, travel and socializing with family and friends. He reconnected with BC classmates via Class of ’50 golf tournaments. He served as President and Treasurer of the Blue Rock Landing Association, Treasurer of the Sixties Golf League and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Retired Men’s Club of Cape Cod. Gerry also gave back by volunteering for the American Lung Association and the Museum of Natural History in Brewster.
Gerry passed away peacefully at home with family on March 31, 2018.
